  6. ===================
  7. KeyText - the keyboard macro program with a difference!
  8.  
  9. KeyText's basic function is the storing of pieces of text,
  10. ready to be typed or pasted into whatever application you are
  11. working on. Autotext in your system tray! You can set up
  12. hotkeys to all your favorite text items - one keypress and the
  13. text is in. Your Word Processor probably has a function like
  14. this already, but what about your database program, your
  15. desktop publisher, your e-mail program? The beauty of KeyText
  16. is that it's always there waiting in your tray, and works for
  17. most applications.

  19. Added to this keyboard macro ability are a number of features
  20. which transform it into a multi-purpose utility.
  21.  
  22. Include in "text" commands to fill in the date, run programs,
  23. click buttons, change windows, select menu items, play a
  24. sound, display a message, and more. Easy wizard-based dialogs
  25. help you set it up. You can even specify an Internet address,
  26. and KeyText will take you there (assuming you have modem,
  27. etc.); hotkey it and you can launch your browser and go to the
  28. site on one keypress.

  30. Schedule items to start at specified times. Because the text
  31. can include commands (fields), you can run programs at
  32. specified times, display reminders or alarms with your choice
  33. of sound, even have an hourly chime.

  35. Windows automation. Tell KeyText to look out for a certain
  36. window or dialog, and then run an item. Completely automate
  37. password entries, repetitive dialogs, etc. KeyText itself
  38. includes 5 password levels to protect any passwords, credit
  39. card numbers, etc. you might store.

  41. KeyText can operate as a multiple clipboard, and makes
  42. collecting text easy. You can set up KeyText to monitor your
  43. clipboard, and whenever text is copied to it, automatically
  44. add the same text to a specified text item. This makes it easy
  45. to gather text from various sources to put into one
  46. destination. You don't even need to open a text file to get at
  47. its text; select it in Windows Explorer and a couple of mouse
  48. clicks puts a copy of it in KeyText ready for reuse.

  50. KeyText can either paste or type your text. Pasting is faster,
  51. but "typing", character by character, has advantages. It can
  52. include commands, it doesn't require the clipboard, and you
  53. can choose the speed. For the benefit of online-chat users it
  54. includes "simulate manual typing" settings; add some pauses,
  55. mistakes and backspaces and the person at the other end will
  56. never know it's being typed automatically!

  58. KeyText has a random link function. Set up your e-mail
  59. signature in KeyText, along with a random link to a range of
  60. quotations held in other items. Hotkey the signature if you
  61. like. Then, every time you press the hotkey, your e-mail
  62. signature will be typed in, followed by a quotation drawn at
  63. random.

  65. KeyText can display a miniature "keyboard" on your screen,
  66. which lets you "type" with your mouse or pointing device.
  67. This was added for the benefit of those who don't always have
  68. a keyboard attached, and asked for the facility to key text
  69. with KeyText. The Keypad also has a symbols tab; all those
  70. tricky symbols like ╝, ⌐, etc. are only a click away - as are
  71. all the accented characters.

  73. It's very unobtrusive... It hides itself away in the tray,
  74. near your system clock. A left-click on the icon reveals a
  75. menu showing all your text items ready to be typed. A
  76. right-click shows all the options available.

  85. KeyText requires Windows 95, Windows NT4 or later, and needs
  86. 500kb of space on your hard drive.

  88. Extract the files from the KeyText zip file to a (temporary)
  89. folder, and run SetupKT.exe. During the install process you
  90. can choose to have KeyText added to your list of programs
  91. which start every time Windows starts; note that you can
  92. change this later in KeyText.

  94. To uninstall, select KeyText from Add-Remove Programs in
  95. Windows control panel.

  97. Note that from v1.1, the KeyText setup program SetupKT.exe
  98. is digitally "signed" by MJMSoft Design Ltd., using
  99. public key cryptography. This can be confirmed with the
  100. SafenSigned Verifier - available from
  101. http://www.securisys.com/ - and ensures that the file is
  102. authentic and has not been modified or tampered with in the
  103. distribution channel. Our signature ID is:

  106. Distribution
  107. ============
  108. KeyText is distributed as a "shareware program", which
  109. indicates that it is provided at no charge to you for
  110. evaluation purposes only, and that you may distribute it
  111. freely, on the terms and conditions stated in the
  112. accompanying file "license.txt".

  114. Registration
  115. ============
  116. When first run KeyText displays: "Evaluation Version" and has
  117. 5 text items available for you to use; you can store more text
  118. items by making new KeyText data files (.ktt) and using the
  119. right-click menu to switch from one to another. After 28 days
  120. it automatically becomes the "Unregistered Version" and has
  121. the same 5 text items available, but other features are
  122. reduced. If you wish to continue using KeyText after 28 days,
  123. you should register.

  125. The Registered Version gives 21 new text items, making 26 in
  126. total; and you can have several "KeyTexts" running at the same
  127. time, giving the possibility of over 200 text items just a
  128. click away.

  130. A single user license is 25 US dollars or 14.50 GB pounds
  131. (these prices guaranteed to end of December 1998). Site

  214.       enabled, and offers a quick way of locking KeyText.

  216.       than [x] times in any [10 minutes]", where [x] is a
  217.       number from 1 to 10, and [10 minutes] is a period from
  218.       10 seconds to 8 hours, or "session", which indicates:
  219.       while the current .ktt file is open.
  220.       When a scheduled message is displayed and "Repeat..."
  221.       is selected, instead of "Edit schedule" being offered as
  222.       an option, "Edit text item" is given; "Edit schedule..."

  225.       that [Return] should not be typed after a field, unless
  226.       you want KeyText to type [Return]; subsequent text/fields

  230.       program - or activate it (bring it to the front) if it is
